Roger Khairallah

Director of Operations in Lebanon

Roger A. Khaïrallah was born in Ghebaleh, Lebanon. He completed his schooling at the Collège des Frères Mariste de Champville in Lebanon and holds a Computer Science degree from Saint Joseph University in Lebanon.

From 2001 to 2008, after a 9-year career in an IT company, he co-founded an IT services company, which he led from 2008 to 2011 in the field of accounting and point-of-sale software.

Parallel to his professional career, Roger has always felt the need to contribute to society and make a positive difference in the lives of others. He has been involved in social services for vulnerable populations in Lebanon. In 1999, Roger co-founded Maak Association, which was later registered as a Lebanese non-governmental organization dedicated to keeping families in their villages through microcredit loans. Maak Association continues to empower individuals and families in need by offering financial assistance through a wide array of projects.

To increase his impact on the ground, Roger started partnering with several other organizations, including the Raoul Follereau Foundation. For example, he provided crucial support to the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition in Tyr, with funding from the Raoul Follereau Foundation, to guide young people towards education and vocational training. In 2008, following his actions during the 2006 war in Lebanon, he received the Raoul Follereau Award from the French Academy, a distinction recognizing social action in service of the poorest. Along with a team of volunteers, he served displaced populations, facilitating their return to their war-ravaged villages.

In 2011, Roger officially joined the Raoul Follereau Foundation as the Director of Middle east operations, where he played a key role in the planning, coordination, and implementation of humanitarian projects aimed at improving the living conditions of vulnerable people in the region. His responsibilities expanded over the years:

  • 2011: In charge of Lebanon and Syria.

  • 2016: Expansion of Palestine, Iraq, and Jordan.

  • 2018: Expansion to Egypt.

Roger’s unwavering leadership and dedication have enabled the realization of numerous initiatives, such as programs for access to education, healthcare, and sustainable development projects. In all the projects he accompanied, volunteering was always crucial for helping the partners on the ground. Therefore, an office was created for the recruitment of young volunteers in France, who were dispatched in Lebanon and Egypt for 1 to 3 months of service. Each year, around 35 young students were received in the various projects, and Roger planned and executed all the trips.

In 2019, due to the severe crisis Lebanon is going through, Roger Khairallah was named executive manager of the CJC, the Social Office of the Jesuits Fathers in Beirut. The office takes care of needy people in 3 major axes: nutrition, health care, and education. This center is also helping the villages in the south of Lebanon subject for an ongoing war, generating waves of displaced families all over Lebanon.
